The 5th Annual SFGG Hall of Fame Dinner
Friday March 2, 2012 at 6 pm
SFGG Clubhouse, 725 California Ave, Treasure Island, SF
Please save the date for this event.
The 2012 inductee for SFGG’s Hall of Fame is Shaun Paga, a multi-capped U.S. Eagle in both 15 and 7 a side from 1998-2004. An amazing cross-over athlete, Shaun starred at Cal both in football and its powerhouse rugby program, playing on four consecutive National Championship teams. Shaun was an important member of the Eagle squad during his tenure, displaying a unique combination of size and blazing speed. In like manner, Shaun was an exciting player for SFGG having his most impact as a hard charging backline player. Shaun’s menacing runs over and around opponents created many highlight reel moments.
The SFGG steering committee has decided to award, for the first time, the SFGG Life Time Achievement Award. This award is in recognition of a Club member’s extraordinary contribution to rugby and by extension to the life and strength of SFGG. This year’s recipient is Mr. John Gies. John, who passed away in 1999, was a long time member of the San Francisco Rugby Club and was its president during the mid-1990s. John’s connection with Northern California rugby is a particularly compelling story, as will be outlined during the dinner presentation. John labored behind the scenes, largely unrecognized, to make the game and the club we love an important part of the fabric of sport in our country, our lives and our memories.
There will be speeches, songs and general merriment throughout the evening. It is a night not to be missed!! Tickets are $50 per person and include an outstanding 3 course meal and wine at dinner. Please pre-purchase tickets here.
