Spring 2022
We just wrapped up our Winter Season. If you are interested in summer or fall rugby, please fill out a quick show of interest survey which also has a feedback section.
Summer & Fall: After taking a few months off, we will run a series of pick up flag games at Hellman Hollow in GG Park starting Wednesday, June 8th at 5.30pm running through July. In September we will have Open House seasons in the city and will start up Sunday practices again for the new season in Oct/Nov back on TI.
Recruiting New Players: If you enjoyed this season, please help us spread the word with your friends to give rugby a "try". They can sign up with the same show of interest survey. If they are new to the game, you can also share Becky's youtube clip
Get more involved? We need to add new members to the Parent's Advisory Council to help shape direction and set goals of the youth club and to represent specific teams. If interested, please sign up here or contact Ansel, Carly or Terry. This is advisory only, does not require any rugby knowledge and requires less than an hour a month for basic planning calls, up to 6 times a year. Examples of logistical Items discussed would be practice days/times/locations, club day, socials, uniforms, car pooling, fee structures and potentials tours.

Note In April 9/10 we are joining some other Bay Area clubs to make a weekend trip to LA and play against local youth clubs there then watch the professional LA Giltinis at the historic LA Coliseum. If interested, sign up here: LA Trip |
SFGG Youth Teams :
SFGG field the following teams and play home/away matches and tournaments. Boys & Girls: U8 Flag / Touch Rugby Boys & Girls: U10 & U12 Tackle Boys: Middle School U14 [also referred to as MS] Volunteering: Help us stay a club that is 100% run fully by volunteers, the vast majority are parents. We need your help to run the program. Most volunteering roles take a few hours across the full season and are very rewarding. Certain roles like Team Managers and the Volunteer Coordinator will receive some cool SFGG Club attire ! We also have openings on Planning + Advisory Committee that meet every couple of months, especially for new u8 or u10 parents, please contact junioryouth@sfggrugby.com or see Terry Shire before or after any practice. CALL TO ACTION: please fill out the Volunteer Survey Scheduling Overview for 2022: Here is some general scheduling information for the new season: Jan/Feb/Mar: regular season with about 10~ games, home games on Sundays @ TI, away games either Saturday or Sunday across the Bay Area (i.e. Marin, San Jose, Orinda, Dublin, Danville etc). A Youth Club trip for players and parents to Los Angeles is also in the works in August 2022: lasevensrugby.com/about-the-la-invitational NOTE: One advantage of local rugby is SFGG and most other local clubs combine practices and games/events across multiple Youth Ages from u8 to u14s so multi player families can commute one time to an event as opposed to be scattered across multiple times, days and locations across the Bay Area. Safety: We are parents first and take the health and safety of all of youth players very seriously. Our very experienced head coaches take a safety first approach to the sport. We are also very closely aligned with local and state recommendations around Covid procedures. League & Info: SFGG plays teams in the Bay Area region of Rugby Norcal. More info on youth rugby can be found on the USA Rugby website. For more general information please email junioryouth@sfggrugby.com |
